The Itch That Won’t Quit
I have eczema. I’ve never had it before and have recently been told that it’s common in people who have food allergies and asthma, so, in the grand scheme of things, I’ve been lucky.
But OMG! The itching! The scratching! Our bodies are designed to make addressing an itch temporary and addictive: itch, scratch, itchier, scratch more, worst itch EVER, deep, intense scratching…ahhhh relief! NOPE! Itching to a level where I want to chop my arms off!!!
Lately, my days have all been one big ass scratch and regret loop. On the bright side, I’ve been slathering myself with a greasy hydrocortisone cream, and things are slowly improving.
Speaking of greasy hydrocortisone cream, a few days ago, I sent Bill to the drugstore to buy an OTC anti-itch cream called Cortizone-10, recommended by the PA who checked out my rash. I was very specific - a red box with green in the corner, large white letters that say Cortizone-10 - and he came home with this, which is for literally the only part of my body that isn’t itchy.
How exactly is that supposed to work, Bill?
