Thankful Moments: Thanksgiving At Disney World and Animal Kingdom Lodge
I’m sad to say we’re back from Disney World, but my gosh, what an amazing trip!
Every time we visit Disney World, I’m reminded how grateful I am to still be walking those parks and riding those attractions. On this trip, I noticed that Bill and I were consistently the oldest people in every line, and there was one moment when a 40-ish-year-old man gave up his seat so Bill wouldn’t have to stand on the monorail. Bill was momentarily horrified and freaked out when he realized he was officially THAT old. But honestly? We haven’t slowed down much in the last 30 years — and for that, I’m incredibly thankful.
I didn’t take many pictures because we were busy doing all the magical Disney stuff, like Space Mountain, Soarin’, and the Haunted Mansion, but I have a few to share.
We didn’t get to spend Thanksgiving with the kids this year, but I still had so much to be thankful for, like spending the holiday at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge.
The lobby is breathtaking, don’t you think?
Sitting on our balcony in the morning, watching giraffes and zebras meander through the man-made savanna brought me joy.
We slept with the door open and occasionally heard weird animal sounds that were oddly comforting.
The green army Toy Story guys drummed while we waited in line for Slinky Dog, and they were so good! Everyone was mesmerized
Forgive me for saying this; I find pictures of people’s Thanksgiving meals on social media a tad annoying, but in proper double-standard form, I’m going to post ours anyway.
We had Thanksgiving dinner at Liberty Tree Tavern at Magic Kingdom. I didn’t go in with high expectations - because Disney World food is average on a good day - but I was pleasantly surprised by how good it was.
Did you read yesterday’s post about Advent calendar karma…I mean fun?
Here are the kids with their calendars. Landon wasn’t interested enough to stay awake, but Ainsley was excited because, technically, she got two this year.
How was your Thanksgiving?
